No more pics until we get home. We are in Seattle waiting for our flights home. I have some other pictures that I will post - random events throughout our vacation.
See you all soon!

Jim getting ready to go kayaking with Kathi.

"Awww...Mom..." It's like he's going to kindergarten and LeeAnn had to get that last picture! Or...this could be "summer in Alaska!"

The proud kayaker. Is that a word?

Fireworks are supposed to be on the 3rd at midnight. We are contemplating whether or not to go down the road and watch or not. 4th of July festivities start around 2pm on the 4th with a parade, soap box race finals, frisbee dog competition, sand castle competition, etc. More pics to come tomorrow. Kaya and Emma may learn to kayak tomorrow morning.

See you all soon!

This is a deer on the wall at Red Dog Saloon in Juneau, Alaska.

The group (Jim is taking the picture) at Red Dog Saloon.

Kaya and Nana at Red Dog Saloon.

Our day started at the Rainforest Garden. The plan was to go in, but it was too expensive...so we snuck some pictures from the parking lot. We overheard the guide talking to the group inside - the trees were taken out in a land slide, so they planted them upside down and planted flowers/plants in the roots.

This is Mendenhall Glacier from Douglas Island. Mendenhall Glacier is on the main land.

This bear crossed through our picnic area, then went up the hill and across the road. It was about 15-30 yards away from us.

This is at the restaurant at the top of our hike up Mount Roberts.

Juneau, from Mount Roberts.

This is the mountain (section 1) we hiked up today (July 1st). We started the hike up Mount Roberts at 6th Street and ended up about 1500 feet at the tram and restaurant. With all 10 of us, it took about 1 1/2 hours - just under 3 miles.

(section 2)

(section 3). The tram building is the speck just above the rain drop on the lens. We took the tram down after having lunch.

This is looking at part of the town from the top of Mount Roberts. This section of town is where the cruise ships dock.

This is Kaya on the beach at Nick's house. Jim is taking pictures from the balcony. The tide is out at this time of the morning. She is wearing Kathi's boots and they kept getting stuck in the "muck," so she came in.

This is Totem Park in Sitka. We walked through the forest and looked at the totem poles along the way. There is a section of the forest, with a totem pole, that represents the battle ground between the Russians and the Tlingits.

This is the newest totem pole erected at Totem Park. The woman at the bottom represents Mother Earth and there are salmon on both sides of her face, reaching to under her chin. Up above (not in this picture) is a symbol that represents the park.

Happy 4th of July! This flag is on the back of the fast ferry.

Playing "Phase 10" on the rider to Juneau. It took about 4 1/2 hours to get from Sitka to Juneau.

Here is our rental car being driven onto the fast ferry to Juneau. Jack is driving and Emma is in the passenger seat.
